Dr Joannis Vamvakopoulos
CONSULTANT IN ENDOCRINOLOGY, METABOLIC & INTERNAL MEDICINE
Dr Vamvakopoulos originally trained as a biomedical scientist, then as a research immunologist, making substantive contributions in those fields. He studied Medicine in Birmingham, UK, where he also completed his general and specialist clinical training. His first substantive Consultant post was at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, where he was Clinical Lead for the Inpatient Diabetes Service whilst also helping to run the Diabetic Foot Service. During his time there, he skillfully introduced electronic insulin prescribing, streamlining processes to provide even better patient care. With dedication and care, he managed a large inpatient specialist caseload, handling approximately 400 referrals monthly!
He is currently Clinical Specialist Service Lead at the Manx Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism (Manx CEDaM), Noble’s Hospital, Isle of Man.
